Team Profile: Digital Descenders
Like a modern day band of gunslinger heroes the Digital Descenders have arrived!
Save the Date: Xtreme Descent
This event will give you the opportunity to explore NH from new heights, make new friends, support the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America, and last but not least, reveal your inner super hero.
Welcome: The Xtreme Descent Story
Welcome to the new Xtreme Descent blog!
In 2009, the Daniel Webster Council (DWC) of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) brought a unique fundraising event to New Hampshire. Participants were able to see New Hampshire from a whole new angle: From the top of a 24-story building.
Rappelling down a 24-story building takes courage; therefore its called Xtreme Descent.
Xtreme Descent was the first ever urban rappelling event held in NH. Brave individuals who raised at least $1,000 were able to rappel down the side of the Brady-Sullivan Building in Manchester: the tallest building in the state. Families and friends from all over NH gathered in Manchester to watch all of the daring individuals rappel down the 24-story building as well as support the Daniel Webster Boy Scout Council.
Thanks to all of the courageous participants and generous supporters, the event was very successful. With the help of Over the Edge, a fundraising initiative that sends daring pledges rappelling down an office building in a once-in-a-lifetime event, the Daniel Webster Boy Scout Council was able to offer members of the community a safe and fun way to see Manchester, NH from new heights. The event raised $54,000 for the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts of America!
Xtreme Descent is Back in 2010
Xtreme Descent 2010.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, the Daniel Webster Council will be hosting the second annual Xtreme Descent, an event of a life-time.
If you remember Xtreme Descent 2009, you know that this is not a normal fundraising event. Xtreme Descent is a unique fundraising event that provides the community an opportunity to safely rappel a 24-story office building in downtown Manchester, NH.
We don’t want to give away the good details yet, but be prepared for an exciting event. Xtreme Descent 2010 will add a twist to last year’s event.
If you want to be a brave participant, there will be a place for others to help send you over the edge to make the “Xtreme Descent.” If you don’t want to make the descent yourself, you can support other courageous participants.
More details to come very soon. Please visit back to find out how to

“It is a once in a lifetime experience,” said Joe Wiltrout, Director of Finance Services for the Daniel Webster Council. “We’re thrilled to take Xtreme Descent to the next level and hope the night rappels, in addition to a number of other surprises, will leave this year’s event even more successful than the last.”
